Perth ERGObaby Wearers – It’s Your Chance to Join the Babes in Arms Team!

Would you like to join our team of lively ERGObaby demonstrators at the upcoming Pregnancy, Babies and Children (PBC) Expo in Perth and get paid for demonstrating a product you love? There are several expo positions available…as well as the possibility of ongoing work post-expo.

Applicants must have extensive knowledge of the ERGObaby Carrier and be available Friday 12th – Sunday 14th August 2011 ideally for 3 full days, minimum of 2 full days. (Venue and times available here – http://www.pbcexpo.com.au/perth/ )

- Brief summary of your ERGObaby Carrier and general babywearing experience

- Contact details for 2 references (ideally one personal, one professional)

Please note that your child(ren) is welcome to visit you at the expo over the weekend but demonstrators must ensure that a support person is available at all times to attend to your child’s needs when the stand gets busy (which is very often! ;)

Celebration! We surpass 4,000 Likers!

Thank you to everyone who has been sharing the Babes in Arms Facebook page with their friends! We are growing each day and just over the week have surpassed 4,000 likers.

Celebrate with Us and You Could Win a Rearview Mirror!

The Babes in Arms team are very proud of the active and supportive group that has grown on our Facebook page. It has become a venue not only for talking about our products but a great place for discussions around babywearing, positive parenting practices, celebrity ERGObaby spotting (who can forget the last two episodes of Grey’s Anatomy?), sharing our children’s milestones and connecting. Rather than battling “mummy war” topics, our little page has become known for engaging conversations that are supportive and non-judgemental. As part of our Facebook network you have drawn us into your own family and we have become to know many of you, and we have enjoyed celebrating the milestones your children and family have shared with us.

This week we *think* we will cross the 4,000 “liker” milestone. It crept up on us. Only today we noticed and we have decided a small celebration is in order. So….when we meet our mark and topple over it we have decided to distribute 3 Rearview Mirrors valued at $16.95 to a select number of our Australia-Pacific fans.

To make it simple, all we ask you to do is:

  1. Become a Babes In Arms Facebook ‘liker’ and (optional) tell your friends about our page by sharing our link on your own wall.
  2. Leave a comment below (which we will not publish) telling us the type of mirror found on the Rearview Mirror, why you need one, your name and postal address.

We will reveal the winners within two days of reaching our milestone.

Mayday Mayday….. This Carrier is Hurting My Shoulders- Send ERGObaby Pronto!

You researched babywearing whilst pregnant and just knew that a sling or carrier was a must have for your baby list. Whilst you spent a long time researching your pram, perhaps you didn’t spend much time researching carriers (they all seemed pretty much the same back then) or perhaps a well meaning friend or relative gifted you one. Nevertheless, when bub arrived you started off using your new carrier with glee, but soon found that lengthy wearing periods or a growing baby resulted in shoulder and back strain. Mayday, mayday- my shoulders hurt!

Never fear, Babes in Arms is here!

We have 3 ERGObaby standard carriers valued at $159.00 each to send out to 3 babywearering parents requiring an upgrade from their existing carrier .

Entry is simple…. No voting necessary, just a simple Mayday call out!

Part 1: Leave a Mayday comment below in the comment section telling us in 50 words or less why you need to upgrade to an ERGObaby and what difference you think it will make to your babywearing practice. Don’t forget to let us know which colour would most like to grab (don’t worry – that bit isn’t included in your 50 words).

Part 3: On receiving their new ERGObaby carrier, we ask that each winning entrant then provides a comparative review after they have ‘tested the best’  telling us how  the ERGObaby worked for them – extra points for video comparisons. The best review (judged by the BIA team) will receive a bundle of ERGObaby accessories. This is a term of entry.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. Entry is open to all residents of Australia Pacific who are 18 years of age or over. However, employees and their immediate families of Babes in Arms, any other benefiting parties and their associated agencies and companies are not eligible to enter.
2.  The Mayday Competition commences on Tuesday, May 17 10.00 pm (AEDT), with part 2 concluding at midnight, June 26 2011.  Part 3 entries are due 2 weeks on receipt of prize.
3. The competition will be advertised on the Babes in Arms Facebook page and the BIA Twitter page
4.  Participants may only submit one entry
5.  Three (3) entries will be selected by the Babes in Arms team to receive new ERGObaby standard carriers vaued at $159.00
6. Prizes cannot be transferred and cannot be redeemed for cash
7. Winning entrants are expected to provide a review of their prize within two weeks of receiving their item. The best of the three will receive a bundle of ERGObaby accessories to go with their new carrier.

FUNK IT! And the Winner is…….

Of course everytime we run a competition we struggle to decide on a winner. We look to you, our fellow babywearing, BabyLegs loving fans to point us towards who you think should win. Our entrants are encouraged to rally their friends together to like their entry and we use the results to gauge whether our choice (well, we are always a divided team with our choices….so this always makes one of the BIA team very happy that their choice was reinforced) was also your choice.  Right up until the last day, some of our entrants were head to head. We were unsure who would lead the pack, but in the last day votes surged and their was an obvious favourite, however the BIA team were STILL divided.

So…..

A Year in the Life of an ERGObaby – Hopping Through Easter

This year is flying by, feels like we just had Christmas and Easter has just passed us by!

Charlize is now 8 months old and doing well. She started solids around 6 months old but has only in the last few weeks started liking them and eating more than a spoonful. She’s loving baby led solids and doing it herself. Dinner is usually steamed carrot sticks, corn, beans and grated cheese which she loves spreading over her highchair (and mostly the floor!). She also loves grapes so I’ll be sad when the grapes disappear off the shelves as the weather is getting cooler.

Charlize isn’t on the move yet except a bit of commando crawling. If she wants something her sisters bring it to her so she obviously feels that she doesn’t need to move yet. This is much easier for me as she generally stays where I put her although I’m usually not allowed out of sight or the waterworks start!

Our ERGObaby carrier has been getting more of a workout than usual as my nearly 2 year old Mikayla has decided she doesn’t want to be in the pram and wants me to carry her. Not a problem with the ERGObaby as she feels light and loves being on the front or back. I think she has been in it more this month than Charlize!

The weather in Perth has finally cooled down into the 20′s so we have been going back to the zoo for our weekly trips. I don’t need to take the pram anymore as Miki and Jayde walk and Charlize goes in the ERGObaby carrier which has been much easier to get through the doorways.

One of my friends is due with her bub in a couple of months and I have lent her my Heart 2 Heart insert as I insist to her it is the best thing with a little one. I hope her baby enjoys it as much as Charlize has!

Over the Easter long weekend, we headed to the South West of WA where we got back to nature at the National Parks and the Valley of the Giants to do the treetop walk where the ERGObaby came in handy  with a  less than friendly pathway for prams.

FUNK IT! FINALISTS REVEALED!

Throughout April you had the opportunity to showcase an unusual, funky use for your BabyLegs; reveal your poppet’s latest funky look, or try to win us over with a mixture of looks that come together in totally funky way.

Of course, with so many entries a great number of chocolate bars were again consumed whilst the BIA debated over which 4 would move across to the finalist section of the competition. It was so hard to choose because we really think you all have style! However, we have finally come to a consensus. You can find each finalist in the following posts:
