We showed you a sneak peek of ‘Babies’ the movie only a week or two ago. This movie follows 4 babies from 4 corners of the globe over a twelve month period. It captures their first smile, first taste of food, first steps – a whole plethora of ‘firsts’ in fact.
In the spirit of observing a baby over a period of time, Babes in Arms would like to explore a ‘Year in the Life of an ERGObaby’…..what does the life of a baby and her parents look like when they enjoy the freedom of the ERGObaby Carrier? What do parents get up to when they aren’t tied to settling their babies in a crib? What adventures do they go on when they don’t have to lug a bulky pram? How much easier can life be with an ERGObaby?
We are therefore calling all pregnant mums (or soon-to-be-dads) or new parents who have just welcomed their little one into the world. who would like to share their ERGObaby journey with us over the next 12 months through monthly blog updates.
To get started, we would be happy to provide a new award-winning ERGObaby Carrier and a ‘Heart 2 Heart’ infant insert. Throughout your journey, you will receive regular new products to use with your carrier which may include ERGObaby accessories, BabyLegs, and even a Rearview mirror. And, around the sixth month date, we may kit you out with a new release carrier (but shhh…. that product is still a secret). The total value of products gifted throughout the year will be worth over $500.
In return, you will need to provide monthly updates with a babywearing flavour of your baby’s journey, plus some images and/or video to use on our blog.
Interested? Leave us a comment telling us why you would love to use an ERGObaby with your new arrival and how it could make a big difference to your family life. Please also note your approximate due date or current age of newborn baby.
Thank you and all the very best!

I would love to use the ErgoBaby.. i have a toddler and find using a carrier the easiest way of transporting my 6 week old baby, and have my toddler in the pram or walking. At the moment i have a Hug a Bub which is great but i find its a bit of a pain to tie for short uses (like shopping trip) and my back gets a bit sore if i wear it for too long!
I would love to be able to show you my new little man’s first year in an ergo! He is not quite 8 weeks old and I have 2 older children who keep my hands ‘tied up’ most of the time. I have never used a baby carrier before, I bought a sling but can’t seem to figure it out, and only learned about the ergo towards the end of my pregnancy, so it would be a great journey for myself, my husband and my son!
Babywearing means my baby ain’t fearing. Mum is close while baby is warm as toast. Heart to heart is no understatement, in it baby is far from apart. Hands free, mum and baby are happy you see
Oct. 10.
I am a pregnant mummy due in December 2010, but also have a 12 month old toddler. From birth my daughter was only ever happy in her sling and at 2 months we bought her an Ergo and boosted her up with an old terry nappy. Since then our pram has become extinct as it was her (and also my) favourite way to get out and about. Now I am pregnant with number 2 and am still wearing my 12 month old but am faced with the dilemma of what to do when my 2nd comes along in December. We will definitely need another Ergo for the new bub and would love to even try wearing the two of them together (have seen many great pics of this!). Am also looking forward to trying out the heart 2 heart with my newborn as we had the older style insert for my daughter, but she always preferred heart 2 heart position so we had to resort to use a cloth nappy to boost her up. It would make a huge difference to this soon to be busy mum, because if my 2nd born is anything like my first then I am definitely going to have my arms full!
I am due for my second baby on the 18th of July, just 5 weeks away and my first born who will be 14 months old will become a big brother!
I would love to use an EGRObaby with my newborn to share that special close bond while still being able to be “hands free” tend to all of my toddlers needs.
Its going to be tricky juggling a newborn and a 14 month old but i think with the help of an EGRObaby it will allow those first few months to be a smoother transition. We would be able to have lovely strolls to the park where i can have my new bub all nice and snuggley close to my body while being able to watch my little boy play in the park and being able to follow him close by without having to try fit pram in where children are trying to play. Trips to the shops will also be made happier being able to have bub in the EGRObaby and my other bubba in the trolley
Ive heard that it also helps to settle a newborn with a belly ache which i wish i had of known with my first baby.
There are so many things that we would be able to achieve with an EGRObaby we would love to win.
What a wonderful idea! I would so love to be involved in this project. I am currently pregnant with our first child (due Jan 2011) and would love to share our baby wearing journey with you. We are Aussie citizens but live in Queenstown New Zealand (in our humble opinion, the MOST beautiful town in the world!). I love nothing more than wandering around our incredible Lake Wakatipu, staring up at the snow capped Remarkables and I am so looking forward to continuing this daily ritual once our little one arrives.
The whole south island of New Zealand is an incredible area with so many beautiful places to visit and my husband and I are committed to visiting each of them over the next couple of years. We are big travellers and can’t imagine being able to visit the places we currently visit without the freedom of a good baby wearing system.
We would love to have the opportunity to be your ‘Year in the Life of an ERGObaby’ family!
NOTE: We can provide you with an Australian postal address for product deliveries if required.
I love writing/blogging and babywearing. I have used an Ergo before and found it great at distributing the weight of my then 18 month old while we were on holiday. I have a new baby due at the start of September and would love to document my use of the Ergo starting with a tiny one in the Heart to Heart insert. I have recently moved from somewhere relatively isolated where I had to get in the car whenever I needed to get anywhere to a little town where I can walk to the library, the pool, the shops, playgroup…the works! It’s such a revelation for me, and I’m looking forward to being someone with a new baby that hardly ever has to get in the car.
I’d love the opportunity to document my use of the Ergo, and I think that wearing my new babe while also toddler wrangling is pretty much the only way I’m going to be able to do it!
I am currently 29 weeks pregnant, my first baby is due in August so my husband and I have been looking around for the most convenient products on the market. We have seen lots about the ergo baby and it is by far the best baby carrier out there. I would love to use the ergo baby with my newborn as it makes you hands free while still allowing your baby to be close and well supported. My husband and I are heading overseas with our baby who will be around 6 months old to visit my husbands family, the ergo baby will be good for busy airports allowing both my husband and I to be hands free and also for the plane ride to keep bub safe and secure and comfortable.
Me & Zebediah (1 month old yesterday)would lovvve to try out the Ergo!! we’re currently using the MiniMonkey. It’s been real great….it lets me move around more & Zeb gets to rock away & snooze a bit while I do my thing. We’d love to try out the Ergo, as it looks a bit more supportive….so I might be able to use both hands a bit easier, plus my beautiful boy will be closer in the Ergo…allll the better to cuddle him
<3 I feel much more at ease when he's close to me… I don't have to keep checking on him then. Women from across the world carry their babes with them alot of the time….& I love that! It's precious & natural… & is such a beautiful way to bond with your babe…. annnd… it's so snuggly & warm for us both
We would love to contribute and share our unique journey with our newborn who is about to turn 5weeks old. Our first child who is 4yrs old now, spent her first 3years of life in a sling & carrier. It would be fantastic to document & share our journey as our newborn was diagnosed with Down Syndrome and there is not much information shared out there about babies with disabilities with parents practising attachment parenting, breastfeeding and babywearing. Also, to add, i don’t drive a car and hubby and i don’t have any extended family in Australia. We are so prepared to babywear our newborn (and our petite 4yo who is clingy & regressing a bit lol!), hubby has a new ergo sport (with waist band extension– he’s a big dad!), 4yo has a ergo doll carrier and i got the H2H infant insert, all which we bought at Babes In Arms a few weeks ago!
I would love to be apart of this as i am pregnant with my second and have a daughter who is 10mths old. It would be very handy to have something like the Ergo, as i have heard through a friend it is very easy on your back. I would be happy to leave monthly blogs on how we are going. My second bub is due first thing in Jan, so i would have a 15mth old running around, while juggling a newborn. would be great to be apart of the blogs.
My daughter is a colicky baby and at six months, weights almost 9kg. At only 5ft and 50kg, i find it difficult to carry her, specially when she has one of her colic attacks. Winning this would help me comfort my daugther and as she loves being close to me,Thanks
Ooh this is right up my alley as I love to blog and love to wear my baby! I got an eargo when I was pregnant with my 4th baby and it was such a lifesaver, baby #5 is 5 weeks old now and has been worn everyday of her life! My husband and I live out in the country and we own and run a country pub – not an easy task with 5 kids, but we manage. Babywearing makes it so much easier and it’s not just me who loves to wear our babies, hubby is a babywearer too!! We still carry our 3 year old around in the ergo when out and about. We haven’t owned a pram in YEARS. I’ve been seen arouns school with a baby in a hugabub on my front and a toddler in the ergo on my back.
I would love to have the opportunity to try out an Ergo! I currently have a 5 week old little girl Lucy, and with 2 older children aged 2 and 4 she needs to be worn alot! I currently use a wrap, but it’s not long enough for her to be worn on my back, so washing nappies and clothes can become very difficult with a babe on the front. She also suffers colic so loves to be held upright. We go out alot during the day and always get comments on the wrap, but I would love to see what everyone thinks about an Ergo! I could maybe even impress everyone and try wearing two babes at once…
We just found out we’re expecting #2 end of Feb/early March 2011. We would love to roadtest the Ergo for you because after a difficult 1st pregnancy my back was left damaged, I have to go to the Chiropractor every 2nd week and have not yet been able to find a carrier that will support my baby (now 11months) and my back ergonomically. I so wanted to be able to wear him but so far it has been impossible and when there is another bub it will be so important to have at least one of them on the body! It would be so fun to take you on a the journey with us as our little family grows!
Hi! I’m expecting number 3 in 6 months- perfect timing for your new release
We are an experienced sling baby wearing family but somehow have not yet aquired an Ergo; on the to do list for this bubby. I will need my hands oh so much more with 2 active bigger babes to chase all day long. My husband and I are active hikers and campers and have found carrying our babies has let us continue these hobbies as parents. We would love for you to consider our very active and growing family for this competition! Oh did I mention we are also tech-savvy too?
Pick us!!!
I am due to have our first baby in September after trying for 3 years. My husband and I are both very keen to be eco friendly with our baby. The ERGO baby would be brilliant to provide both my husband and I intimate contact with our baby. My husband works away on the oil rigs and at times I have to go and pick him up and drop him off at the airport, which is a busy place! I would love to wear the ERGO in such a busy place!! Just to be hands free in places such as shopping centers and family get together. We would be honoured to try out your product and use it to its full potential along with recommending it to all we know!!
I would love to take part in this! My third baby is due any day now and I’ve definitely been on a babywearing journey over theses childbearing years. I had a hug-a-bub with my first little one but found it difficult when #2 came along with how long it took to put on. I purchased a pouch but found it extremely uncomfortable on my shoulder ( my son loved it though). This time I’m much more experienced, and the ERGO is the way to go! I haven’t been able to purchase one as yet but can’t wait to continue my babywearing journey.
My baby is 5 months old so i think she would be a bit too old for what you are looking for but the ERGO looks brilliant for being hands free with other children and for cleaning and all the odd jobs around the house while keeping babe warm and snug and safe and secure right next to mamma’s heart where they love to be. I would love to try one out but i think i might have to get one the traditional way lol
and save up for one…
I used an Ergo carrier for my 3rd child from the time he was around 7 months old and it saved my life. I’m a total Ergo convert and only stopped carrying/settling him in it when I was too heavily pregnant with my 4th (now 2 weeks old) Number 4 has been carried or woirn since birth (when I can rescue him from his older sister ) and I will continue to wear him well into his second and hopefully 3rd year!
#3 is due the 27th August, the day before my eldests 3rd birthday. We bought a twin stroller as my middle one will only be 15 months then and still need a pram but I hate taking it around the shops as it never fits down aisles or checkouts properly. Think #3 will be going in the ergo and just taking a single stroller out.
I really look forward to that time I can keep my new baby close and I imagine I will use it a bit around the house as well as I wont have a free hand for a while!
I have never used an ergo. I am wanting to try one with my 3 month old. Having spent 5 years in the army my back cannot take much strain but I LOVE carrying my baby. He is so happy and content when being carried in a wrap that I know he would love the ergo just as much. I love having him close to me and not buckled in a stroller where I can’t look at him and not in a germy shopping cart.
I would love to win this prize, its been 15 years between my babies, I’ve had longterm infertility and I plan to do all I didn’t do “right” with my first with this one, Sling wearing is not new to me, I am also a fostercarer and I have used borrowed and second hand slings for our fosterbabies but I would LOVE and I mean LOVE my own Ergo and all the other wonderful items that you mentioned. My precious miracle all being well is due in late Jan 2011(the 29th),I would be over the moon if I won this prize and since this baby will be the most photographed and video baby on the planet I would have NO issues providing updates for the year.
Awesome competition.
My name is Tara and I’m mum to 2 – Asher who is 2 years old and Layla who is 14 weeks. Babywearing is extremely important for my children, especially when Asher was little. Asher was born with an enzyme deficiency (Congenital Sucrase-Isomaltase Deficiency) that took 16 months to diagnose. He was constantly in pain and wearing him was the only way to calm him down and get him to sleep. The enzyme deficiency is genetic so I insure I wear Layla as much as possible, especially as we think she also has it as she reacted to medication. Babywearing helps both my kids to feel safe and secure.
I would love to win an ergo to help to encourage my husband to babywear and so I am able to babywear longer! It would also give us both the opportunity to continue bonding with Layla while spending quality time with Asher. I also love to blog and take photos of my children! I hope you will consider us for this fantastic opportunity.
Tara.
My partner and I are counting down the days till the arrival of our second baby bundle! this time around, I am looking forward to using our Ergo Sport from the very get go.
Unfortunately, we didn’t purchase our Ergo until our son was much older and I seriously wished we had bought it sooner. I didn’t know about baby wearing and all the benefits to be had with an Ergo. It was only that our wee family were headed to the UK for our first O/S adventure to visit my gran for the first time in my life with her first great grandson that we purchased the Ergo. The ease at which we were able to run through the Metro subway and the Tube – WOW life was so easy, and our son was 14kgs and 2 at the time. We watched, as other mothers struggled to carry prams up and down the subways without a single person stopping to help.
This time around I am going to be using it with our second newborn from the get go. The only problem is I will have to relinqish my power over the Ergo and allow my partner to use the Ergo!!! He is begging to use it so that he can bond with our second baby. As you see, my ploy was to not let my partner who is 6ft and some, fiddle with the straps once I had them perfect to carry our first born. So to win this journey for the year with an Ergo so that my partner can carry our newborn and or our first born would be the ultimate.
We are after our experience in the UK wanting to do some hiking and even challenge ourselves by taking both children out and about in our world for more discoveries.
We are up for the challenge ! A 3yr old and a newborn conquering the world about them.
Given that I’m having triplets (due 22nd October, expected to arrive in September sometime) I’d love anything at all that can help give me free hands while settling at LEAST one of them and still ‘keeping house’. I’d also love for my husband to be able to bond with each of the babies and take his turn wearing some of them after I’ve done it for almost 9 months.
We’re not the type to stay at home and make baby wearing a boring routine, we get out and about, we’re travelling next year, we do lots of fun adventurous things as a family that can be blogged. But no doubt there will be some nights also spent treading the boards while we get someone to sleep!
I would love to have the opportunity to do this for 12 months! I have tried a couple of different carriers and wraps and have been looking at buying an ergo but just can’t afford to at present. I have recently had baby #3, now 3 months old and have two other children 2 and 4. I am a work at home mum running my business making children’s boutique clothing for my own label and travel around doing markets a couple of times a month. An ergo would make like SO much easier at the markets with my newest little man who comes with me to the markets as I am breastfeeding and will continue to do so for at least another 12 months or more. It would also make shopping trips so much easier when out and about with all 3 children!
I am pregnant and due on the 5th August so any day now! I have a 2 year old son who I carried in an ergo everyday up until my belly got too big. He grew up on me and I plan for my next one to do the same, we did lots together and I plan on doing more including trying to wear both at the same time…now that would be interesting if I can pull it off. Babywearing will make me able to still play with my boy and give my baby the closeness it needs, it will make my life easier, and I can’t begin to imagine the life changing benifits it will bring to my children.
I have only just found out I’m pregnant – 4 weeks today in fact! So shhhhh, don’t tell anyone
I’m due the start of April next year. It’s been a long journey to get here as I had an ectopic pregnancy back in March. I had to have emergency surgery and ended up losing a tube so this new little baby is our hope and healing. I’m not sure that I’m eligible for this competition given that I’m only 4 weeks along though!! I have two kids already, a 4 year old and an almost 2 year old. I would love the opportunity to trial these products. We used the Ergo for both my son and daughter (although it’s looking a little worse for wear these days
) but I never used it when they were infants as I didn’t have the insert. Would love to try it out! I also love to blog! lol
