February Competition! I’ll Take the Stairs Thanks: When Only Babywearing Will Do!

One of the most practical advantages of babywearing is that you can go anywhere your legs can take you.

Stairs? No problem!

Crowded shop with skinny aisles? Done.

A train trip to the city during peak hour? No missing that trip and no need for assistance to board.

Sunset stroll along a sandy beach? Of course.

Ahhh….bush track with pot holes?  Easy peasy!

Your endurance is your only limit! Babies and toddlers love the closeness that babywearing brings, and it certainly assists with bonding.

This month Babes in Arms would like to celebrate the freedom babywearing provides beyond the pram for parents and carers.

Leave a reply, in your own words, about what babywearing adventures you have taken that a pram could never have afforded. If you are an expectant parent, tell us about the babywearing adventures you dream of taking when your precious bundle arrives.

Secondly, visit our ERGObaby organics range and mention which colour you would like your carrier to be if you were to win.

The prize, one lucky entry will win an organic ERGObaby carrier RRP $189 (of their own colour choice) and a ‘Heart 2 Heart’ RRP $35 infant insert.

I need to be able to chase after a 21 month old toddler when my baby arrives. I don’t think a pram is going to cut it, my daughter runs fast! If i won i would pick cranberry :)

Before having our daughter Claude, my husband and I loved going to music festivals – we thought these days were over for the time being. However, we decided that we would try out our baby in the carrier at Meredith Festival last December and the three of us had a fantastic time! While we enjoyed the music, Claude bounced away on her dad’s back and had a great sticky beak at the very festive crowd. We loved knowing she safe and secure tucked into Dad’s back and seeing her big gummy smiles! Couldn’t have done that with a pram…

I own a bubba moe sling which was great when my bub was a newborn but now she is 10 months old it is not too comfortable for me to wear for very long. I have borrowed a friend’s ergo baby & it is brilliant! Very comfortable design that distributes the weight on your hips rather than your shoulders or back. Even when we recently did a few walks in the Otways in VIC to see some of the many gorgeous waterfalls, our little one would happily be in it for a few hours at a time taking in the sites while still being nice and close to mum or dad & without any discomfort for us either. She loves being able to check out what is happening in the world & be a part of the action. I would love to win our very own as I know that it would be well loved and worn often for many years to come.

I’m an avid babywearer. Having a 3 year old makes pushing a pram difficult at the best of times. I was forever running over his feet or he was walking in front of the pram only to be run over!! He couldnt hold my hand because my hands were busy pushing a pram and I didnt really want to “tie” him to the pram! I have since used a baby carrier every day and very, very rarely use a pram. I can hold my 3 year olds hand AND chase after him when he decides to play hide and seek in the shopping centre! Now I have no more lost toddler, no leaving the baby behind in the pram while dashing after a runaway, plus a very happy little baby being held close to mum. I love babywearing my precious little gift. PS I looove the seagreen organic Ergo.

  3. Julia Spice says:

Its not that adventurous, but its one place I go that a double pram would not be very practical! My local playgroup! I went there yesterday with my 19 month old and 7 week old, and put my baby in my baby wrap and was able to run around, and keep up with everything that my daughter wanted to do, while letting her sister be near me as well, I wouldnt of been able to do that without baby wearing!

  4. skye muscat says:

i took my 4 week old baby Jonty to the christmas carols in his hug-a-bub, not only was he protected from the snady winds and was warm but it was so easy to just take him and sit down now having to find room for a pram

  5. Kristie Tatton says:

On a visit to NZ recently we visited Franz Josef Glacier. No way a pram would make it over the millions of glacial rocks! I had not used a sling for 6 months, so at trip to the fabric store I grabbed 4.5m of fabric and made a “ring sling” (minus the rings) and carried my 4 year old – over the rocky terrain – to the glacier, on my back. I am so glad my daughter got to experience the splendour of the Glacier through our Baby Wearing adventures!

  6. Lee says:

I could have never managed to move 2 states with 3 children under 3 if I didn’t baby wear. I had our 15 day old strapped to my front feeding and my Hubby had our 18 month old on his back while carrying suitcases, entertainment for the toddlers, snacks, nappies etc through the airport after we checked in all of our lugguage and pram… I would like to see someone manage that without babywearing. ;)

  7. Claire Thomson says:

I moved from the mountains to the beach last September. I am walking distance to the beach but with baby twins in tow I had never set foot on it. I have never lived so close to the beach in my life yet never in my life hda a summer that I haven’t set foot on it. Until…

Ergobaby’s arrived Friday afternoon – loooooooooooooooooong walk on the beach with my husband and a baby each napping on our backs on Sunday morning. Bliss!

  8. Anne says:

my two older boys are both in scouts Australia, one is a cub scout and the other a joey scout. These two scout groups do a lot of outdoor activities and as my youngest son is only a joey an outings he goes on he needs a parent with him. his group have been doing a lot of walks for example they have been on a beach walk and also a bush walk both these walks were not suitable for a pram so instead of trying to find someone to take my place and let my son down l went out and brought a carrier for my precious little princess. She loved being snuggled so close to me and my son loved being able to take my hand and take me for these special walks with him. As he was the baby before my little girl was born he was feeling a lot put out by her but by me babywearing and still being able to particiapate it made his day and now we look forward to all the little outings we can have together!!

The color l like best in the ergo’s is the cranberry…. what a wonderful color for such a wonderful product!

  9. Alice says:

    Hi
    I am a mother of 2 (4yr old and an 8mth old)
I have been on crutches permnanently now for 11 years due to a knee injury/chronic pain problem.
I have had both of my children on crutches and so have used a baby carrier for everywhere and every thing. I have tried many sorts and this is the best.
My carriers wear out so fast so I am always after more. I can’t push a pram very easily so carriers are it. So its not about where a pram wont go, its more of what I can do.
The better the carrier, the happier my back. I need very supportive and well made carriers! My backis always sore. Hence me entering this competition. A carrier is more a way of life for me than a piece of equipment. Quality is a must!

  10. Janine says:

Everytime i go shopping, especially opshopping when you have to squeeze down little crowded isles! You see people with prams so limited as to what they can look at while i shop with freedom. Also being able to carry all my selections without a problem! babywearing probably is expensive in that respect as it enables more shopping!!

  11. Rebecca Hill says:

The main one that I can think of was our trip to SeaWorld when my daughter was 9 months old. It was so much easier having her in the carrier when getting around the crowds! She also actually slept really well, which she never would have done in a pram!
    Love the seagreeen!

  12. Rachel says:

I am a mother of 16mth old twins. I have always carried at least one of the children in a carrier (a few different kinds) however we recently took a holiday with friends to Stradbroke island in QLD and we took the ferry over with some of our luggage and our friends met us on the other side. I carried 2 16mth olds (1 front & 1 back) as well as a couple of bags. I felt that it was a lot easier than carrying them as I had my hands free. For this trip I used one of our carriers and I had to borrow the other as they don’t fit into the other carrier that we have. I have been looking at the ergo to buy, so it would be great to win one instead.

  13. Jen Muir says:

I don’t drive, so my daughter and I are on foot wherever we go, and the pram is not always practical. We have swimming lessons once a week, and the pram just is not practical for manouvering around the pool, or in and out of the change rooms (or for the shortcuts home – a set of 25 stone stairs, or a very steep loose gravel track – neither very good for the pram). sea green would be the colour I would choose too.

  14. Danielle Ann Roberts says:

I had an ergo a little while ago i thought at the time that i would never use so i sold it on to someone who now gets great use, I think i will definatly have to save for another one as my little girl will not sit in her pram and just wants to be held EVERYWHERE we go.
I currently babysit for working mums and have 3 different kids 3 days per week it is getting much harder now as they are is now all at walking age.
I have done baby-wearing for almost all my little ones life now and i think its just what we need now. Sometimes i just have to pack up and leave because i cannot hold darling daughter and run after the other kids. (as she will not sit down) and that puts the whole day out of whack!! I think it will be a lifesaver with us as i am a single mummy i just have to thank you for all your awesome information and support you have just solved ALL my out and about problems.
An ergo would make my life a ‘BREEZE’!!

  15. Jenni says:

I recently took my 2.5yr old to see the wiggles, it turned out that wearing my 5 week old was the best decision i made. Not only did it allow me to breastfeed discretly and comfortably but they didnt allow prams in the venue. It also allows me to have my arms free to do things when bub is restless.

  16. Amanda Carson says:

with my first child we didnt have access to a car, so public transport got us everywhere. would catch the local school bus to town to do shopping, go to the Dr’s ect. and never did I use a pram, I just wore my baby. It was easy to breastfeed anytime, anywhere and she would sleep so soundly, close to mum. I even managed long travels this way, on planes and trains across Australia. I hate to think of how I would have managed on my own with juggling a new baby and bulky pram to fold, manuvre and lug about! A night time walk in the carrier would always put her to sleep. Not to mention how fit and healthy it keeps us parents as we bond with our babies!
All the colours are great but I think I like the Organic Chocolate one the best.

  17. I left my citygirl life behind me when I met my partner, and threw myself into helping him run the family farm. When my son was born, people suggested that I’d be sorry to have to stay home with the baby instead of helping out with the farm work.

I just smiled, and by 6 weeks my baby was out there with me, sleeping against my chest (or my partner’s) as we walked across dusty paddocks, driving mobs of sheep into the yards, or peering curiously out at the ewes and lambs. And we could always guarantee a giggle from him when our sheepdogs jump a gate or give an enthusiastic woof. Later that year my little Farmboy was standing at the handler’s post in his first sheepdog trial- waving his arms and shouting commands while riding on my back!

Now, 3 years on, his little sister has just arrived, and she’ll be helping out too, from the comfort and safety of her carrier (a chocolate or cranberry Ergo would be lovely- wouldn’t show the dirt and dust ;) )

  18. Nicole says:

Our firstborn seetheart, Skye Naomi, is 10 weeks old. She goes absolutely everywhere with us in our baby carrier. It’s so easy to hang out the washing, make dinner, bake a cake and do the shopping. She’s so peaceful and relaxed and the love that’s exchanged between us is beautiful while she’s close to our hearts.

But this wasn’t always the case. Between 4 and 7 weeks, Skye cried and cried and hardly slept. I was told to try and put her down in her own cot to train her to go to sleep on her own. It was virtually impossible and somewhere inside me knew that it was unreasonable to expect so much from my little baby. I knew she needed to be close to me. In desperation I disregarded this advice and purchased the first carrier I saw. I started carrying her close to me as often as possible during the day. She really loved being upright and close to me and I think it helped with all her wind. Amazingly, my Skye changed almost overnight! She napped soundly during the day. And when she woke, she was calm and alert. My confidence increased and I too felt like I’d become a better mumma overnight.

My snap decision to buy a carrier was the best decision I made. Unfortunately I didn’t research it beforehand and I am finding that my shoulders hurt. My husband and I are planning to go to New Zealand in a couple of months before Skye begins to crawl. We plan to travel around in a motorhome and don’t want the hassle of a pram. I would dearly love an Ergo as I have heard so many rave reviews that they are so comfortable and supportive! We’re planning on having more children soon…so I would definitely need a heart to heart infant insert! A unisex colour like the navy would be lovely.

  19. Jehanne says:

I am due to have my third baby in a few weeks time…I already have a 3 yr old, a 2 yr old and a double pram! My 3 yr old hates walking and I really don’t want to try and add a toddler seat to an already loaded pram!
I think an Ergo is going to be the only answer to my dilemma of how to go out and about with 3 kids under 3.5!
Our lifestyle is varied – from roaming around the farm at home to shopping centres and parks, I know I’ll need something versatile to fulfil my needs. If nothing else it’ll give me 2 free hands to keep hold of my 2 little monkeys!
I love the organic range and would choose the sea green *drool*

  20. Michaela Macaulay says:

I don’t think I done anything hugely adventurous. I’ve just been able to live MY life the way I want. I haven’t had to worry about where the pram will or wont go. In fact I put the pram away in the garage. At home or out and about I didn’t have to change me. Bub and I get to be close and enjoy life.
I love chocolate so that would be my choice.

  21. Olga Tsarikova says:

I am planning to have my baby overseas, but we are going to fly back to Australia when my little one is about 3 months. I think ERGO Baby Carrier in Sea Green will be perfect (not to mention an absolute saver)for our first big trip together – it is so much better to share 30 hours of air travel with my angel close to my heart!

  22. Chantelle says:

Without a car & having to rely on public transport I had to take a 2 year old & 4 year old to a clinic vsit at a hospital 45 minutes away. Using a baby carrier I didn’t need to worry about how I was going to get a pram on & off the bus, nor did I have the worry of trying to hold 2 little ones’ hands in a very busy city. The carrier really took the stress out of the whole ordeal & I was still able to wear a backpack with all their things as well. The only tip I would give- don’t put boots on your bub in the carrier. They were the only shoes that fit at the time & I ended up with bruises from the swinging legs ;)

  23. Chantelle says:

I love the sea green colour as pictured above. Unisex & very calming & tranquil.

  24. Carla says:

School holidays has recently ended so as a mum of 3 (miss 5, miss 3 and master 6 months) we did plenty of family trips to many wonderful places.

Missies 5 and 3 obviously walk and are VERY independent, however keeping an eye on them while pushing a pram is a mission! so having baby in a carrier is fantastic, at the zoo he can sleep and be comfortable and have the sun off him, i can discretely feed and take the girls to the toilets safely because i dont need to either leave the pram outside or have the girls go in on their own. we can take the stairs in the museum with no problems at all and i can interact with the children and show them the small spaces without the pram becoming and issue. oh how i love baby wearing!

i love the look of the organic black or organic chocolate ergo’s, yum!

  25. Amanda says:

My first-born is only two weeks old so we haven’t had too many adventures yet but having my Breeze Baby sling has allowed us to start venturing out of the house without the bulky pram. So far we’ve been to the supermarket a few times, the doctor’s and even home from the hospital in it. These trips might not be trekking in Nepal but they are the first steps towards many great adventures together.

  26. Ruth says:

In the “adventure” category would probably be the multiple overseas trips I have taken (first with one, then with two) small children. No pram needed, thanks. I now have three children and while I haven’t taken an overseas trip with all three yet (!!) probably the most adventuresome babywearing moment was going to the Christmas carols. It was all well and good wriggling our way through the crowds to get IN, but when it was time to leave it was late and we had 3 tired children. I ended up leaving with my 2 month old still in the wrap on front and a toddler on my back. (Lucky husband got to tote the belongings and help our sleepy eldest son walk.;-))Felt pretty good to breeze out of there so quickly–skipping the slow lineup of prams.

The carrier I used for that back carry was an original Ergo that I got secondhand almost 5 years ago now! It is super worn so you better believe I’s jump at the chance to win a new organic one! In chocolate, please.;)

  27. Anna Wilson says:

I am expecting my first child in June and really looking forward to getting a Ergo Baby carrier. Being a avid bush walker, International traveler and public transport user, I so do not have the patience to lug around a pram of any size!!!! I was an expat child who traveled the world on my parents backs and I thing this is a perfect solution for our child as well. Even better that there are now carriers design for just this thing!! I am really liking the Org Sea Green please, as I am a green girl at heart.
    Thanks

  28. Jaynie says:

As boring as it may sound I love baby wearing when I’m hanging out the washing. Bubs loves the breeze on her face and the flapping washing on the line….takes a while to get it all done because of the little games we play, but why not make laundry fun!

Black organic for me – love the details on it.

  29. Catherine says:

Hmmm, let me thin, baby-wearing adventures???? There are a few that spring to mind, the Mternity Coalition National Day of Action back in July that saw by #3 boy on my back the whole day, or a family trip to Wet and Wild with Master 7, Master 4 and Master 18m (who slept in the ring sling most of the time!).

But it is keeping up with the adventures of my #2 son where baby-wearing has truly been a lifesaver. My second son is on the Autism Spectrum and as such doesn’t handle public, busy places too well, like the school playground when dropping off #1 son. Too many times I would have to leave my #3 baby boy in his pram and run after #2 son before he ran onto the road or out in front of a car. Babywearing gave me the freedom of having both hands free to hold onot #2 son and still keep #3 son close.

Baby-wearing is a lifesaver for me! I can have one boy on my back, cuddle the other on my front and still hold hands with my eldest boy.

PS. I just LOVE the organic chocolate carrier :)

  30. Maria says:

Trendy Melbourne markets and public events when hordes of people all converge in the one place!

The pram no matter how equally trendy & compact stays in the boot! Or Better still at home if the occassion calls for an over crowded train trip into the city!

Depending on the weather (it is Melbourne after all) I choose one of my carries, strap bub on and off we go to get right in amongst the action not worrying about running over peoples toes! And sure that the little one is having as good a time as we are!

I’m such a huge fan of ergo already I’d take any colour! I’m also terrible at making decisions I’d proba just opt for the organic black!

  31. Megan says:

My husband is in the military. I have a variety of medical issues, and one week I was hospitalised. My husband was due to go on a pack march that day and conviced his commanding officer that it would be ok to bring our foster baby along with him.

So he strapped the baby on his front and his 30kg pack on his back and they marched for 10km+. The baby slept most of the way and happily cooed for the rest of it.

The boys loved having the baby along for the ride. They still talk about it to this day. A special memory for us, as this foster baby has since moved on.

(We really like the look of the Seagreen Organic Ergo).

  32. Penny says:

We currently live in Guam. Guam is an interesting island with “mountains” in the southern region. One day some friends and myself and my daughter trekked to the top of Mt Lam Lam the highest peak on Guam at 405m elevation. I was feeling the ergo love that day with my 15kg toddler on my back adn a rough trail to follow. A very interesting fact about Mt Lam Lam is that the base of the mountain is below sea level. 10924 metres below sea level actually….the impressive Marianas trench “Challenger deep”. If we measure the height of the mountain from base to summit it is 11330m. The highest mountain on earth!:) not bad for a mama, her heavy toddler and an ergo ;) As well as this amazing feat this ergo has been through lots of rough off road and everyday use (supermarkets, rallies, fundraising walks). It is time to get a new one for my new baby :) Given the tropical surroundings I would love the ergo in a sea green colour.

  33. Rebekah Salmon says:

I carried my first two children everywhere with me (my second until she was 6!), and can’t express how comforting it is to feel them close.

My 7 year old daughter is in a wheelchair full time, so baby number 3 (due in April) will be carried almost all the time! I’d love to have an Ergo baby carrier (in Chocolate), as my research tells me they’re the best!

That way the whole family can go on adventures together, and I can also enjoy some peaceful bushwalks in the Blue Mountains with the little one while big bro and sis are at school.

  34. Emilia says:

After having twins (now 2) I have dreamed of being able to fit into most shops. Even with one pram (which I got from my sister) I still struggle to go places with my baby. To be able to walk around the lake in town and not have to carry anything or push a pram would be heaven.
Cos I’m a chocaholic (aren’t we all!), I have to say I would love the chocolate one please

  35. Heatherbell says:

On our first holiday as a family to Melbourne, I ummed and ahhed about taking our pram with us. The Ergo, well, that was a given..but the pram? I wasn’t sure if we would need it as we travelled around the city.
It was my husband that said “Just take the Ergo” and boy did he have the right idea.
As we moved nonstop from sight to sight, it was my husband that proudly wore our daughter on his back, while for once, I was able to trail behind, like a proud mamma watching my sleeping babe with her daddy.
We were a picture of a carefree couple (and that’s WITH a child) as we seamlessly moved on from the museum to the markets, through the shopping centres and the airports. We even managed to do the boxing day sales down Bourke Street – that’s no mean feat! We walked hand in hand together, totally free from encumbrances like prams and nap times (because our little one always sleeps in the Ergo!) this small, tight knit little unit of 3 always within reach.

  36. Heatherbell says:

Oh…and while in Melbourne…I couldn’t get enough CHOCOLATE! So why not have some more??

  37. Shelley Martin says:

I am expecting my third child. I dream of being able to have baby attached to me and go for long walks trying to lose all the weight I put on whilst pigging out on junk food

  38. Abbi Wegner says:

I have been an attachment parent since the day my son Harley was born. He has always come with me wherever I’ve gone since the Ergo Baby Carrier gives him that opportunity. My most memorable occasion was when I was invited to a friends 50th birthday party when Harley was 10 months old. I didn’t even hesitate bringing Harley along as I knew he would be in the Ergo the whole night sleeping or watching everything. I danced the whole night long with my friends and Harley had a good sleep the whole time too. The best part is I didn’t have to seperate from my son, or even have to go and check on him, he was with me safe and happy. I could also enjoy the party, my dancing kept him sleeping with the movement.

Harley is 19 months now and has a brother or sister on the way, His Ergo was worth every dollar spent, and very well used. I didn’t even use his pram for the first 6 months, didn’t need it.

The Organic Sea Green is just a beautiful colour I would love it, and I’m sure Baby #2 will appreciate something new :)

  39. Adam Lewis says:

We have our first arriving next month and I would like to do pretty much everything with our bubs on my front then back; especially go to Vietnam. We were supposed to go in 2008 but got stuck in Bangkok when the international airport was closed. We thought we would never make it now but your travel pages have given me great inspiration. Chocolate or navy any dark color would be fantastic! I’ll send you some photos…

  40. Xanthe says:

It has been our dream to travel Asia, originally we were going to cyle Vietman, but with number 2 on the way our plans have changed and our dream has simplified to seeing – and hopefully walking part of The Great Wall of China. With leave up our sleave Christmas 2010 is our goal…

  41. Sarah says:

I couldn’t live without my ergo! It has helped us with doing our grocery shopping, fun days out, walking for excersise and all our daily running around. But what I couldn’t use the pram for is when I had a teething baby and needed to cook dinner for the rest of the family. Simply insert crying, sooking baby into the ergo on my back, and he sits quietly there cuddling mum as she completes dinner and pleases the whole family! This has worked on numerous occasions, even with my 3 year old with an earache, just as I’m trying to cook dinner for company! Strapped her onto my back and hey presto, I’m Wondermum! Thank you ergo, I really would love the chocolate organic sling for my sister in law to be able to experience the same freedom when her bub pops out!

  42. Angela says:

When I had My First Child, I returned to work when he was four months old, as much as it felt like it was the right thing to do at the moment, my heart was aching inside for not being able to spend as much time with him as i would’ve wanted. I now regret not savouring those precious moments of when he was a baby – as i will never have that chance of cooing and being there for all those first moments ever again.
I now have a 5 month old and each day, I look at my baby and see that he is growing and growing, a little too fast for my liking. I don’t want to make that same mistake twice and want to take the opportunity to bond and be as near to my baby as much as possible.
With the everyday hustle and bustle, it’s unfortunate that my baby misses out on a lot as he sits there in the bouncer as i frantically get everyone else fed and dressed, as well as getting the house organised. I can see his face craving for that much wanted affection and comfort that he deserves.
So what am i trying to get at eaxactly?…A baby carrier, means that he doesn’t miss out on all the fun and i get the chance to bond with him at each moment possible,we are able to get so close, it’s like having him inside me again, but being able to talk to him and see his expressions. I have been able to take him on buswalks and beach walks at the national parks- all where its a no-pram-go-zone, and it makes the stress of doing the groceries so much easier!!
It also means that Hubby can get involved and get the feeling of what it’s like bonding with baby so close, Heart to Heart”

If selected, I would like the Chocolate Carrier please

  43. Kate Hanrahan says:

When our son (with a serious pram-aversion) was 13 months, we took a trip to Canberra to spend a weekend and attend a music festival. We arrived late at night and I was able to put my sleeping boy straight into the Ergo, where he stayed asleep and accompanied me, with my arms full of hand luggage to the rental car counter – it was soo smooth and easy. My other friends who went on trips around the same time, talked of the hassle of checking prams etc. None of this was a problem for us. Once at the festival, set in the bush 40mins from Canberra, he was able to have his sleeps on either my or my husband’s backs – we were there from first thing in the morning til late at night. At that time he had 2 sleeps a day and crashed around 7pm. Given he would/will not sleep in a pram, we simply would not have been able to do this without a carrier and we would have missed out on a really fantastic weekend and experience for all us (he had a ball too). Once home, back in the carrier, and straight through the crowd at the airport and onto a train home. We have had lots more experiences like this since, including a recent trip to NZ. We initially got a carrier out of neccessity, but would not do it any other way now. Not only has it been more convenient, but given us so much more intimacy and communication with him. We love it. We are planning another child soon and will defnitely go for an Ergo again – would be great to win one this time though! (The Chocolate would be great).

I am due to have my first child in May and we are very very excited!!! I have always loved seeing the mums carrying their precious bundles so close to them using a carrier. I would use it for when I do my lunges/squats as a way of doing something with bubs and using the baby’s weight instead of using dumbells. I have always wanted one and have it at the top of my list of presents for people to get me. If no-one does I will hopefully be able to buy one for myself. I would love the sea green colour, just amazing.

  45. I have taken a lovely leisurely stroll along 90 mile beach wearing my gorgeous little man when he was just 6 months old. It was fantastic to be able to get off the beaten track and get down to the waters edge, something we would never have been able to do with a pusher or without a baby sling!

It is hard to narrow down the list of places that I can take my Ergo that the pram just wouldn’t go.
    - Kokoda memorial trail in the Dandenongs
    - Cape Shanck lighthouse beach walks
    - 15km day hike through the Dandenong ranges
    - pretty much any day hike anywhere!
    - along the beach (yes, I have taken a pram there with my first, but it really isn’t a pleasant experience!)
    - down my garden rows while I’m weeding and hilling corn.
    - through the butterfly house at the zoo on a public holiday when it is pram peak hour
    - into the petting area at Adelaide zoo
    - into the water at the beach so your three-year-old can play IN the water not just at the edge
    - on the front so bubs can sleep right through church programs, weddings, funerals, birthday parties.
    - line dancing (just try that with a pram!)
    - climbing to the top of Mt Donna Buang in the snow
    - Planes, trains, buses, trams – Public transport is a breeze with an Ergo!
    - In a house full of packing boxes where there is just enough space to walk.
    - In a busy kitchen when you are cooking up a storm and bubs (or three year old) just want to be near you and you can’t afford to have them underfoot and a pram would just be impossible)
    - We live in a country area with gravel roads and hilly paddocks, so virtually everywhere!
    - In the rain when I can just fit bubs under my umbrella (or kindercoat) and I don’t have to worry about her getting wet or cold.

Our pram gets used a couple of times a year when Grandma comes because she can’t manage the Ergo. Apart from that, it’s my constant companion. I have used mine virtually everyday since I bought it from you 18months ago. I would love another for the next one as I have discovered that it IS possible to have two babies sleeping in two Ergo carriers on one person at the same time. (Babysitting bliss). I’d love the Navy Ergo.

We hiked up Mt Kosciuszko when our kids were 2, 3 and 5 years old. We made it to the top, but what an effort!
With the little one in a back-pack (no pram could make that trip) & the middle & oldest getting alternatly carried, it was a struggle.
What a difference the ERGObaby carrier would make this time around (we are planning another trip next summer, after our 4th baby arrives).
    We LOVE the navy carrier.

  48. My ergo is the best thing I have ever bought for my daughter. She is 18 months and still using it daily. I have done so much in it, and have enjoyed the closeness with my baby. I don’t even feel I’m wearing it. Our adventures include bush walks, tractor rides, cow milking!, boat trips, little bounces on the trampoline, movies, weddings and the Brisbane multicultural festival. The more mundane activites like shopping, cooking while on mums back, mopping, helping with the washing and even lawn mowing, was made much easier and fun with my beloved ergo!. I run a local playgroup and it has made that a more harmonious experience. I recommemend the ergo to everyone I know expecting and plan to give mine away to a new mum. I’d love the navy one.

My Ergo lives in my car, I use it ALL the time. We recently went on a holiday to the beach and it was great to keep my youngest daughter in while walking across all the rocks at the rock pools. My eldest daughter lived in our Ergo, I used it daily, shopping, at home, anywhere I went the Ergo went, I hated having to get the big bulky pram out of the car. And with my youngest she had quite bad reflux so again my Ergo lived on me. Some days it would be on from when I woke to when I went to bed, I would cook with it on even. My youngest still sleeps in it now if we are out and I often put her on my back at the shops – again its SO much easier then the pram! Even Grandma uses the Ergo when she comes out with us, she loves to show off her Grandbabies so she uses the Ergo too! If I won Id have to choose between the chocolate and sea green..both are just gorgeous!!!

We went to Jakarta last year and my 1 year old daughter did not want to sit on her pram as usual. Probably everything was strange for her. At the end of the day, carrying a 10 kg toddler everywhere I go does not seem to be practical. I want my two hands free. Well, this year we are going there again. I have to think of a better way to manage her. An ERGObaby carrier could save me next time. Daddy can also help me if ERGObaby is around. We love CHOCOLATE.
